Republican candidate announces run for Hastings seat

Tri-City HeraldApril 30, 2014

Another candidate plans to enter the race today to replace retiring 4th District Congressman Doc Hastings, R-Pasco.

Gordon Allen Pross, 59, is hoping that the eighth time will be the charm.

That's the number of times Pross, who lives in Kittitas County outside Ellensburg, has run for Congress, including several unsuccessful challenges to Hastings, as well as tries to unseat Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.

Pross says he is an organic farmer who also does research into alternative energy.

"Fossil fuels are killing us," he said.

Key issues for the Republican include health care, education and campaign finance reform.

Pross, who plans to officially announce his campaign in Yakima, is also interested in reducing the federal income tax to 10 percent.
