Woman survives jump from blue bridge in Kennewick

Emergency crews respond Wednesday afternoon to a woman who jumped from the blue bridge in Kennewick into the Columbia River on Wednesday afternoon. She managed to swim to the shore, where she was pulled to safety.

A woman survived an apparent suicide attempt from the blue bridge in Kennewick into the Columbia River on Wednesday afternoon.

Callers alerted police that a woman jumped from the Kennewick side of the bridge during the noon hour.

The woman reportedly left a bottle of sleeping pills on the ledge of the bridge, said police.

She managed to swim to the bank of the river and was pulled to safety by emergency responders. She was then taken to a hospital to be checked.
