Yakima Herald-RepublicApril 28, 2014

— Police say a man was arrested after leading officers on a high speed chase through Sunnyside while his infant son was in the fleeing car’s back seat.

According to court documents, Daniel Castillo, 41, was spotted driving about 6:30 p.m. Saturday by a Sunnyside officer who confirmed that his license was suspended.

When the officer attempted to pull over the 2000 Volkswagon Jetta, Castillo fled. Police report that he led officers on a five-mile chase through Sunnyside, reaching speeds of 80 mph and running multiple red lights and stop signs.

Castillo then drove into a trailer park on Cascade Way, where he ran from the car on foot, according to the police report filed in Yakima County Superior Court. He was arrested as he tried to break into a home.

After making the arrest, officers found that his 2-month-old son was in the vehicle.
