Herald staffApril 27, 2014

Two student teams from Kennewick's Highlands Middle School will compete at the Science Olympiad state finals at Eastern Washington University.

The two teams are among only 20 invited to the state competition, a release said. They won their spots after participating in a regional competition that included categories such as mapping, anatomy, meteorology and built items such as robots and musical instruments.

The top team in each category at the state event will advance to the national tournament in Orlando, Fla., in mid-May.
