Awards and Achievements for April 27

-- Kennewick High School's FFA Floriculture team took second place at a recent state competition.

Team members include Karla Bahena, Iris Baretto, Alejandra Cancino and Morgan White, a release said.

The team took first place in two categories while Karla placed second and Alejandra fifth as individuals.

-- Tri-Cities Prep took top honors at this year's regional competition at the Benton County Justice Center and will advanced to the 2014 State YMCA Mock Trial Competition in Olympia.

The Tri-Cities Prep team includes David Sherwood, Rachel Davis, Margot Spindola, Cody Wadsworth, Addie Davis, Adam Lewis, Lauryn Green, Alli Stutesman, Sam Peterson, Bridget Hohl, Audrey Hermann, Stella Jackson, Sam Lewis, Lexi Chvatal, Annie Bayless, Catherine Jacobs, Lauryen Fong and Mariah Lujano. The coaches are Anna Sherwood, Melissa Sierra and Dave Peterson.

-- Several local residents made the academic dean's list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif. These students are honored for a fall 2013 grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Kennewick -- Gary Conachan.

Pasco -- Arielle Dreher.

Richland -- Amber Buchanan, Danielle Cockrell, Nathan Mather.

Sunnyside -- Danika DeGroot, Katherine Herndon.
