Dave Retter, owner and broker, of Windermere Real Estate Tri-Cities, will be honored with the North Star Award on May 13 at a Friends of Scouting breakfast.

The award recognizes non-Scouts for their outstanding achievements and support of their community.

Retter has been a real estate leader in the Tri-Cities since 1979 and believes giving back to the community is an important part of everyday business. Many of his projects have included cleaning, landscaping, painting and light carpentry to benefit senior centers, facilities for the physically and mentally challenged, public schools and emergency shelters for children and adults.

Windermere Real Estate has donated more than $1 million to area nonprofits and agencies throughout the years.

The keynote address will be given by Glenn Johnson, president of Horizon Air and executive vice president of Alaska Air Group. He is also an Eagle Scout.

The breakfast will be at the Richland Red Lion Hotel from 7-8:15 a.m. Check in is 6:30 a.m. Reservations are required by May 10; call 735-7306.

Donations to the Tri-Cities Cub, Scouting and Explorer programs will be accepted during the breakfast.
