Registration still open for Kennewick Citizens' Academy

There's one week left to register for the Kennewick Citizens' Academy.

The academy is a free three-night program designed to provide community members with a better understanding of the workings of local government.

The program is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on May 8, May 15 and May 22 at Kennewick City Hall, 210 W. Sixth Ave.

Topics will include how the annual budget is developed, public safety resources and city council priorities.

"It will be an interactive and engaging session to help people find out how they can be more involved in the city," said Mayor Steve Young.

Applications are available online at Space is limited to 25 people. Applications are due April 30.
