April 22, 2014

The Tri-Cities Fever signed of wide receivers Steven Whitehead and Mario Washington on Tuesday.

Whitehead — 5-foot-8, 180 pounds — played the last couple seasons for the Fever and also runs a successful personal training company called Elite Ambitions in Pasco.

Washington (6-feet, 205 pounds) attended the Naval Academy and was a standout at both wide receiver and cornerback for the Midshipmen as well as returning punts.

Washington spent time since college with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL and the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL.

The Fever lost wide receiver Tre Young for the season with a compound fracture to his leg Saturday night in Green Bay. Young was put on season-ending injured reserve. Receiver Ed Berry was moved to short-team IR.
