Benton PUD to meet with public about electricity rates

Tri-City HeraldApril 17, 2014

The Benton PUD is developing a new strategy for setting electricity rates and wants to hear from the public.

Meetings are planned from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Benton PUD Auditorium, 250 N. Gap Road, Prosser, and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Benton PUD Auditorium, 2721 W. 10th Ave., Kennewick.

The new rate design strategy is being developing in response to increasing regulatory mandates, rising costs and changing customer needs. Rates can be based on a base charge and electricity used and rates can vary for different categories of customers, including residential and industrial users.

The meetings are not planned to discuss a rate increase.

Instead, they will focus on the strategy of how rates are developed.
