Boardman puts medical pot facilities on hold

By the Herald staffApril 17, 2014

BOARDMAN -- Boardman has placed a moratorium on medical marijuana facilities in the city until May 1, 2015.

The city council approved the ordinance Tuesday, according to a news release from the city.

A new Oregon law directs state health officials to develop a registry for medical marijuana facilities.

The law also protects the owners and operators of those facilities from state prosecution.

Oregon cities and counties have the authority to enact moratoriums until May 1, 2015, to develop rules for locating medical marijuana facilities within their boundaries, the release said.
