Benton County jail officer investigated for sexual misconduct

Tri-City HeraldApril 16, 2014

A corrections officer at the Benton County jail is under investigation for allegedly having sexual contact with an inmate.

Officials at the sheriff's office confirmed Wednesday that there is an internal investigation into the allegations. They said they couldn't talk about the investigation until it is complete. It is a crime to have sexual contact with an inmate if you work at the jail.

A Franklin County corrections officer resigned recently after he admitted to having sexual contact with an inmate. The state attorney general's office is reviewing the case to determine whether to file criminal charges.
