Jury selection began Monday during the first day of John C.I. Young's murder trial for the shooting of a Richland teen.
Joshua Snapp was shot to death early July 4 in a remote area of Richland.
Young and Joshua H. Hunt, both 19, were arrested hours after the shooting and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement.
Hunt was convicted of second-degree murder in February and sentenced to 23 years and four months in prison.
Young's attorney, John Crowley, said in court earlier this month that he received an offer from prosecutors for Young to plead to a lesser charge. However, Crowley and Young recently decided to take the case to trial.
The trial could last up to 2 1/2 weeks.
