Letter: Hooked

April 14, 2014

It was nice to see a fishing article, written by a local writer in the Outdoor section of the newspaper. I'm much more interested in reading about what can be fished for in our area than reading about places not around here.

The local chamber of commerce has been asking for ideas on tourism expansion, here is a great way to bring the tourist dollar to our area. Fishing opportunities abound from trout fishing to record-breaking salmon runs and trophy walleye fishing -- all are in our backyard.

With local newspapers struggling, its articles like the trout story that will keep me and others subscribing to the paper. The tourism dollars will follow. Here's hoping for more local reporting on outdoor recreational opportunities.
