Sen. Murray to attend Walla Walla VA ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday

April 13, 2014

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., will attend a Tuesday ribbon-cutting ceremony for a $71.4 million outpatient facility at the Walla Walla Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Murray introduced a bill authorizing construction on the 67,000-square-foot facility in 2009, her office said in a statement. The clinic will include primary care, women's care, behavioral health care, occupational and physical therapy, outpatient surgery and a sleep laboratory.

State Department of Veterans Affairs Director Alfie Alvarado-Ramos is also scheduled to be at the event, which is open to the public. Celebratory cake and other food and drinks will be served, and tours will be offered.

The event is at 2:30 p.m. in front of the new clinic at 77 Wainwright Drive.
