Two Othello men were arrested Friday in connection to an alleged burglary attempt, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department reported.

Deputies responded to a suspicious circumstance at a residence near Highway 17 and Paradise Road just after 7 a.m. Friday. It was later determined to have been an interrupted burglary.

A witness reported seeing two men at a residence, and when confronted, the men fled in a vehicle before abandoning that vehicle later in a dry canal.

Deputies found the residence forcibly burglarized and initiated a search for the suspects. They were assisted in the search by the Washington State Fish and Wildlife department, Adams County Sheriff's Office, Connell Police Department and a K-9 unit.

Hours later, deputies located and arrested Ernesto Garduno-Garcia, 21, and Alejandro Gonzalez-Salazar, age unknown. Garduno-Garcia was booked into the Franklin County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, residential burglary and possessing stolen property. Gonzalez-Salazar was booked for burglary.
