Two-car collision injures 4 people at Van Giesen

Tri-City HeraldApril 12, 2014

A two-car crash at the corner of Van Giesen and the bypass highway Saturday injured four people, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Gustavo D. Preciado, 44, from Hermiston, was driving his 2005 Peterbilt tractor and Diamond side trailer eastbound on the bypass at about 3:15 p.m. when he ran a red light at Van Giesen Street and struck a Ford pickup driven by Rene L. Johnson, 40, of Richland.

Johnson and her two passengers, Skyler D. Johnson, 14, and Colby P. Johnson, 12, were transported to Kadlec Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said Rene was in stable condition and Colby was treated and later released, but Skyler was transferred to the pediatric center at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, everyone was wearing seat belt, and the cause of the crash was inattention, the WSP reported. Charges against Preciado are pending.
