4 Richland residents injured in two-car crash in Richland

April 12, 2014

A two-vehicle crash at the corner of Van Giesen Street and the bypass highway Saturday injured three people, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Gustavo D. Preciado, 44, of Hermiston, was driving a 2005 Peterbilt tractor and Diamond side trailer east on the bypass about 3:15 p.m. when he ran a red light at Van Giesen and struck a Ford pickup driven by Rene L. Johnson, 40, of Richland, the state patrol said.

Johnson and her two of her three passengers, Skyler D. Johnson, 14 and Colby P. Johnson, 12, were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. A hospital spokeswoman said Rene was in stable condition and Colby was treated and later released. Skyler was taken to the pediatric center at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane where he remains in serious condition, a hospital spokesman told the Herald on Sunday. Austin D. Johnson, 14, was not injured in the crash.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, everyone was wearing seatbelt, and cause of the crash was inattention, the state patrol reported.
