WALLA WALLA -- Four Walla Walla men have opened Paratus Northwest, a firearms training academy at 5729 Mill Creek Road.

The owners are Nathanael Small, Paul Green, Jed Headley and Tom Beyer.

They offer training in handguns, carbine and precision long-range shooting.

"Our goal is to take shooters from any skill level and background and aid them in making forward progress, with a very heavy emphasis on safety and self defense," said Small in an email.

All of the owners/instructors are either military veterans or competition shooters. Small is a Marine scout sniper who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Green is a Navy SEAL who served in Iraq. Beyer is a National Rifle Association instructor and competition shooter. Headley is a Navy veteran.

Hours are by appointment or during regularly scheduled classes. The phone number is 386-7103 and the website is www.paratusnorthwest.com.
