— A Hermiston teen was arrested on suspicion of causing several thousands of dollars worth of damage by writing graffiti on multiple businesses.

The 14-year-old boy vandalized at least eight buildings in Hermiston over the span of two weekends, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal mischief, criminal conspiracy and eight counts of unlawful application of graffiti.

The teen was taken to a juvenile detention center in Pendleton.

The teen’s mother, a 41-year-old Hermiston woman, was arrested on suspicion of failing to supervise a child, police said. The woman could be held financially responsible if the teen has to pay restitution.
