— A 22-year-old Sunnyside woman died Sunday morning after being thrown from a car as it rolled over about 2 miles west of Grandview, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Magaly Barocio Valderas was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where she died about 6:30 a.m., the State Patrol said in a news release.

The accident took place about 2:40 a.m., when a 2009 Ford Fusion was being driven west of Forsell Road by Arturo Castillo, 21, Prosser, the State Patrol said.

Castillo attempted to turn north onto Puterbaugh Road while driving at a high rate of speed, the State Patrol said.

The car struck gravel on the right shoulder and when the driver overcorrected it rolled over causing Barocio Valderas to be thrown from the vehicle, the State Patrol said.

Castillo was also taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital. His condition was not available.

The State Patrol said intoxicants were involved in the crash.
