Saturday's boys soccer roundup

Shambel West scored in the final minute of regulation and Cezar Leon followed up five minutes into overtime to lead the Chiawana Riverhawks to a 2-1 win over the Kamiakin Braves in Mid-Columbia Conference boys soccer at Lampson Stadium.

West’s goal came off a feed from Jesus Torres during desperation time for the Riverhawks, who had just had a goal waved off on an offside call.

“We were just frantically throwing guys forward, trying to get that goal,” Chiawana coach Rich Zoller said. “Jesus (Torres) just put a little through ball in there, and Shambel got in 1-v-1 against the keeper and put it away.”

The Riverhawks had to surive a final Kamiakin corner kick to close out regulation.

The Braves got on the board early with Jose Anguiano’s header in the second minute.

HANFORD 2, PASCO 1 (2OT): Will Eldred scored with three minutes left in double overtime to lead the Falcons past the Bulldogs in an MCC match in Pasco.

Joseph Ghirardo started the game-winning play for Hanford (5-1, 3-1 MCC) with a free kick from 40 yards out. Mario Zarate headed the ball toward the net, and Eldred headed the ball into the net.

Pasco’s Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez opened the scoring 17 minutes into the game, and Zarate tied things up in the 66th minute.

KENNEWICK 4, SOUTHRIDGE 1: Ramiro Chavez had a hat trick to lead visiting Kennewick (6-0) over Southridge in a Mid-Columbia Conference boys soccer match.

Chavez also had an assist, and now has scored 12 goals in the Lions’ six matches.

Othello 4, East-Valley (Yakima) 2: Jacob Queroz had a goal and two assists as the Huskies rallied from two goals down to beat visting East Valley.

Edgar Iniguez opened the match with two goals for the Red Devils (2-2) in the first 28 minutes, then Othello (4-1) came alive.

Wahluke 3, Mabton 0: Ramon Bravo had a goal and an assist to lead the Warriors to an SCAC victory over Mabton in Mattawa.

Freshman Emmanuel Hidalgo and senior Juan Estrada also scored for Wahluke, which improved to 3-1.
