CBC baseball sweeps Blue Mountain

March 29, 2014

No. 9 hitter Joey Cotto belted a three-run home run off the scoreboard in left-center in the fourth inning to lead Columbia Basin's baseball team to an 11-1 win over visiting Blue Mountain in the first game of an NWAACC East doubleheader in Pasco on Saturday.

Cotto was 2-for-3 for the game and added a triple and five RBIs.

“It was a pretty good poke,” said CBC coach Scott Rogers of Cotto’s homer. “It’s good to see different guys step up.”

Kenton Brunson (Richland) also homered and drove in two runs for the Hawks (12-2, 3-1 NWAACC East).

In the nightcap, Travis Key went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs for the Hawks, while Brunson, Ryan Atkinson, Jordan Feeney and Tucker Ibabao all had doubles, as CBC won 7-1.
