CBC sweeps YVC in softball

Columbia Basin rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat visiting Yakima Valley 3-2 and sweep an NWAACC East softball doubleheader Saturday.

Trailing 2-1, the Hawks got things going when Alexis Salcedo hit a one-out double.

Another out later, with the Hawks down to their final out, Bailey Walthers ripped an RBI single to left to tie the game at 1-1.

Walthers advanced to second on the throw home, and Hannah Sams ended the game with an RBI double to left.

CBC won the opener 9-2, as pitcher Janelle Randles scattered five hits, struck out eight and had three hits herself.

The Hawks are now 4-2 in East Region play.
