Richland Safeway named 'luckiest store' by lottery

With seven "big wins" during 2013, the Safeway on 1803 George Washington Way in Richland is the "luckiest store" in the Tri-City area.

Washington's Lottery has announced its annual list of "luckiest stores," which are retail locations selling the most winning tickets worth $1,000 or more in the previous year.

"Cashing in a customer's winnings is just as exciting for us as it is for them. You tend to create a sort of friendship with them," said Richland Safeway store manager Matt Fabbri. He also told Lottery officials that the store has a lot of die-hard players who come in often.

The other luckiest stores in the Tri-City region are:

-- Six big wins: Yoke's Fresh Market, 4905 N. Road 68, Pasco.

-- Six big wins: Yoke's Fresh Market, 1401 Bombing Range Road, West Richland.

-- Six big wins: Albertsons, 690 Gage Blvd., Richland.

-- Six big wins: Safeway, 2825 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick.

-- Five big wins: Maverik, 3520 Keene Road, Richland.

-- Five big wins: 7-Eleven, 1540 Jadwin Ave., Richland.

-- Five big wins: Fred Meyer, 2811 W. 10th Ave, Kennewick.

-- Five big wins: Fred Meyer, 101 Wellsian Way, Richland.

-- Five big wins: Yoke's Fresh Market, 1410 W. 27th Ave., Kennewick.
