Thankful Thursday: Coach Covington remembered

March 27, 2014

JD Covington was our Richland High School geometry teacher in 1969. As students in JD's class, we knew he cared. Years later working and teaching at RHS with JD was a privilege.

Working in RHS helping kids, in the trenches with JD Covington made many RHS staff proud. He set the example on how to help kids -- all kinds of kids -- to excel and enjoy working hard.

JD never demeaned, humiliated, tried to break down or punish a student or player. JD inspired, cajoled, motivated, explained, listened, demonstrated while teaching and coaching kids setting the gold standard for many a teacher and coach.

JD Covington was one of the best of the best.
