Baseball: Kennewick wins pair of games

Kennewick wins pair: JJ Hancock had a double and two-run homer among his four hits and Larry Dewitt drove in four runs Tuesday as the Lions beat Liberty 8-0 and Milwaukie 13-1 in a pair of nonleague games in Pendleton.

Kennewick got solid innings throughout from the six pitchers who took the mound. Josh Kutzke also had four hits on the day, including a two-run blast in the second game.

Moses Lake 6, Richland 4: Bombers catcher Tyler Kjarmo bopped a pair of doubles, but Richland had trouble slamming the door as the Chifes scored four runs in their final two turns to pull out the nonleague upset at Bomber Field.

Stuart Moore also had a pair of hits for Richland. Jaime Vela drilled a two-run homer for Moses Lake and also picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

Connell 13, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 12: The host Eagles overcame their seven errors with a couple of big hits late, including Brenden Holst’s bases-loaded triple in the seventh inning of the nonleague contest.

Holst drove in the tying run and then scored the winner on Jacob Jenks’ sacrifice fly. An inning earlier, it was Jenks who unloaded the bases with a double as Connell scored 10 runs in its final two turns.
