Police warn not to leave vehicles running following thefts

Tri-City HeraldMarch 24, 2014

— Police want to warn citizens not to leave their cars unattended and running after two vehicles were stolen Monday morning from separate locations in Kennewick.

Police do not suspect the incidents were related.

A 2004 Hyndai Sonata and a 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup truck were stolen within eight minutes of each other shortly after 6 a.m., police said. A man and woman left the vehicles running to warm them up.

The vehicles were taken from the 6800 block of W. Kennewick Ave. and the 7800 block of W. Deschutes Ave.

The silver Sonata’s license plate number is AHE1311 and the tan Silverado had a temporary tag.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call the Benton County dispatch center at 509-628-0333.
