Letter: 10 years of awesomeness

March 19, 2014

On Feb. 22, The Arc of Tri-Cities High School Buddy Clubs enjoyed their 10th Annual Buddy Club Prom.

Our community stepped forward to make this yearly event truly spectacular. I'd like to thank the Red Lion in Kennewick, Colorblind Band, Lucas Marc Academy, Tri-City Mary Kay Gals, Mr. Tux, Tuxedo Gallery and Sew Me Pretty Shop in Benton City. Also, "The Dad Patrol" (our very own security), the Prom Committee, Print Plus, Realife Photography, Maureen Bell of the Kiwanis Club of Kennewick and the creative Pacific Northwest National Laboratory employees who came to decorate.

I would also like to thank all the moms and dads who volunteered many hours, doing a variety of tasks, such as serving food, decorating and even washing dishes!

I am grateful that the Tri-City community came together to make this very special night happen for kids with disabilities, and just as important, their incredible "peer buddies." The Tri-Cities is very blessed to have such a community that comes together and makes it happen.

ColorBlind quote: "Thanks for having us again this year. We love this event more than anything we do all year. See you next year, Buddy Clubbers!"

With thanks and appreciation,
