Aaron Crawford brings mix of country March 22 to The Roxy

Aaron Crawford sings songs about life, at least how he views it.

Crawford and his band perform March 22 at The Roxy Wine Bar in downtown Kennewick.

His music is a mix of old-school country and melodic rock, as well as a sound he calls vintage contemporary.

"I like to say I play a modern country sound with a homage to the old instruments, ideas and philosophies," Crawford told the Herald in an email.

His songs embrace a philosophy based on a life that lives free, regardless of any tax bracket.

"Freedom doesn't have to be based on your financial situation," he said. "You can live your life how you want, create your own world, but it doesn't have to come at the expense of slaving away for riches."

Crawford, 35, was raised in a musical household where his parents and grandparents played multiple instruments, he said.

His newest album is titled Modern Day American Dream.

"I shoot for a very intense sound, blending melodic guitars like Coldplay and U2, with a nod to the old-school country like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson," he said.

Crawford, who lives in Kenmore north of Seattle, formed and fronted his own bands once he graduated from high school. He also recorded his albums on independent labels.

He says he draws inspiration from nearly every genre of music and continues to write songs that are occasionally difficult to categorize but speak to every listener.

Cover to The Roxy show is $5 general admission or $10 for reserved seats.
