Man arrested following hit and run crash in Kennewick

— A 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly striking a parked car with his own and injuring a person inside of it.

Eric John King was driving southbound on south Rainier Street from west Fourth Avenue just before noon, a release said. King struck the legally parked car and didn’t stop despite severe front end damage to his own car and his front passenger side airbag was deployed in the impact.

Medics treated the injuries of Angelica Mendoza, 27, who was in the parked car, while Kennewick police searched the area for a damaged vehicle. People reported King driving recklessly after the crash and Pasco police later found him near west Court Street and Road 48 in Pasco.

A witness identified King as the driver and he was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of hit and run causing injury.
