Letter: We're from the government, and we're here to help

March 12, 2014

I want to thank a much-maligned organization, the Department of Motor Vehicles. My mother-in-law no longer drives but does need an ID card. My wife called the DMV and informed them of the situation that because of health issues, her mother is not able to leave her home for any length of time and cannot wait in line.

The local DMV office went above and beyond and made arrangements for two individuals to come to my mother in-law's home, help her fill out the proper paperwork, take her picture and complete the process so she could receive an ID card in the mail.

Thank you for this very helpful and caring effort.
