Letter: Real Heroes

On behalf of the volunteers and staff at the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross, and as the Real Heroes Committee chairman, I'd like to thank the community for the tremendous support of the 12th annual Real Heroes Breakfast on March 6.

This event is held the first Thursday in March to kick off National Red Cross Month.

Eight community members were honored for their courageous humanitarian acts during the year. The corporate sponsors and the 500 people who attended the breakfast responded with generous donations that totaled $40,000.

This money will stay in our community and help local individuals and families affected by disasters in our area.

The Tri-Cities is a wonderful place to live and work. Our reputation for being a giving community is well deserved.
