Letter: Give cyclists on Sacagawea Heritage trail a break

March 11, 2014

I'm sure that I speak for more than just myself on this issue. As an avid cyclist and user of the Sacagawea Heritage trail, I understand the reason the restrooms are closed during winter months because of heating cost and the danger of freezing pipes.

However, if they are to be closed, some portable units should be made available. Right now on the entire trail there are only two. One at the Road 52 docks and one at the Chiawana docks. Nothing at all in Kennewick.

If the need arises we are forced to break the law and hunt for a suitable place to relieve ourselves. Believe me I've seen this happen many times and have also embarrassed and surprised more than one. Will you please remedy the situation for the next winter closures. Thank you from a loyal citizen.
