— Events for children and adults are planned today by the Columbia River Basin Stewardship Alliance at Howard Amon Park in Richland to mark the third anniversary of the Fukushima, Japan, nuclear disaster.

Children can learn about solar energy and parents and teachers can learn how to use grocery store materials to teach children about solar energy from 2 to 3 p.m.

A community forum on the Fukushima disaster and the alliance’s concerns about Energy Northwest’s nuclear power plant near Richland will be held at 5:30 p.m.

The event will end with a safety ceremony at the side of the Columbia River at 6:30 p.m.

The alliance is based in Eugene, Oregon.
