— A Kennewick man was booked into the Benton County jail after he allegedly broke into a vehicle and ran from police.

Police got a report late Monday night that Justin Robert Knight, 29, was spotted inside the vehicle near the 6400 block of W. Clearwater Ave., police said. When officers tried to stop Knight, he ran toward the 6500 block of W. Deschutes Ave.

Kennewick police called in help from the sheriff’s office and Richland police to search for Knight.

Citizens helped officers find Knight inside another vehicle in the 400 block of N. Quay St., police said. Knight was wearing clothes he apparently found inside the vehicle in an attempt to change his appearance.

Police said officers found Knight’s clothes at a nearby business.

Knight was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicle prowling, resisting arrest and theft, police said.
