Letter: Awards for a rewarding job

March 5, 2014

I want to express my thanks to the many hard-working staff and students I work with every day! While the Herald has given me attention in recent weeks for the awards I've been honored with as an educator, I am the first to direct attention to those I am surrounded by.

I work side-by-side with some amazing people, whose dedication to students inspires me daily. My students have also taught me valuable lessons about life; many having overcome tremendous adversity in their lives, finding the courage to persevere in school and never giving up on their dreams. Most of all, my wife, Michelle, a fellow teacher (and a better one than I'll ever be). Not only does she put up with me daily, she has been my source of inspiration for 14 years and helps keep me balanced (so I can keep doing my job with a smile on my face).

Being surrounded by wonderful people makes me appreciate what a great job and life I have. I am honored and humbled to be so fortunate.
