Chiawana High will present the musical Footloose at 7 p.m. March 7-8 and 13-15 in the high school's auditorium on Argent Road in Pasco.

The story line follows Chicago teen Ren McCormack, played by Ricardo Rangel, who moves to a small town where the local pastor, played by Kyle Bishop, has declared dancing forbidden.

Ren decides to buck the system and defy the rule, along with the fanatical reverend's rebellious daughter, played by Jadelyn Brier.

The teens stand up to the authorities and fight for their right to dance.

The stage show debuted in 1998 and was based on the iconic 1984 film that introduced theater goers to Kevin Bacon in the lead role. It also starred John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Chiawana show is directed by Todd Westendorf with musical direction by Jolyn Glenn. Matt Larsen will direct the nine-piece orchestra made up of student musicians Stephanie Steele, Sarah Johnson, Kenley Spurgeon, Gabe Smith, Tanner Sparks, Destiny Towery, Luis Toledo, Josue Nunez and Jan DeQuiroz.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Advance purchase tickets at the Chiawana High office during school hours. Tickets also can be bought at the door.
