Avalanche disrupts Amtrak service

By The Tri-City HeraldMarch 4, 2014

An avalanche near Glacier National Park in Montana has led to disruptions on Amtrak's Empire Builder train, which runs through Pasco.

BNSF Railway, which owns the tracks covered by the avalanche, extended a moratorium on train travel in the area Tuesday, an Amtrak spokeswoman said. That has caused Amtrak to use buses to take passengers for part of the route, which connects Chicago to Seattle and Portland.

Passengers may see delays out of Pasco.
