Girls basketball: Columbia (Burbank)'s season comes to an end

Zillah 58, Columbia (Burbank) 46: Julie Mosqueda scored a game-high 26 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Coyotes’ season came to an end at the hands of the Leopards in a Class 1A District 5 elimination game at Zillah Middle School on Thursday.

Monica Villegas’ 22 led Zillah, which had four players in double figures. The Leopards (18-4) face Mabton at 3 p.m. Saturday at Toppenish Middle School in another elimination game with the winner advancing to regionals.

Mabton 64, Connell 38: A 22-2 second quarter did in the Eagles in a Class 1A District 5 elimination game at Toppenish Middle School.

Jessica Hawkins scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds in the loss for Connell.

Cassidy McCallum’s 16 points led the Vikings, while Soila Zaragoza added eight points and 10 rebounds. Mabton will play Zillah at 3 p.m. Saturday in an elimination game. The winner advances to regionals.
