Man charged with 2012 rape of Walla Walla teen

February 19, 2014

— A man has been charged with raping an 18-year-old female acquaintance in November 2012.

David T. Bott, 27, is accused of third-degree rape.

The charge, filed Friday in Superior Court, alleges he had sex with the woman without her consent.

She reportedly told police Bott was attending a gathering at her home on the evening of Nov. 15, 2012.

Everyone was drinking, and she said she extremely intoxicated.

She allowed Bott to sleep on her couch, but expressly told him she would not have sex with him, according to a police report filed in court.

But he allegedly entered her bedroom early the following morning, started rubbing her and had sex with her despite her telling him she didn't want to do it.

Afterward, she went to a hospital where DNA evidence was collected.

Bott -- who reportedly lived in the Walla Walla area at the time but now resides in Medford, Ore. -- was tracked down last year and interviewed by police.

He was evasive and gave conflicting statements, according to the police report.

The state crime lab later identified DNA that was collected as matching Bott's.

He hasn't been arrested on the rape charge, but is being summoned to court in Walla Walla for his first appearance on March 10.
