Event to honor late Pasco educator

By The Tri-City HeraldFebruary 18, 2014

The Pasco Education Foundation will host "A Night to Celebrate" event in honor of the late Jeff Dong, a devoted educator and longtime member of the foundation and of the community.

Dong, 69, died in December after a prolonged illness. His health had forced him to step down from the school board last year.

He taught in Pasco for 40 years, retiring in 2007, but he also served as a tennis coach and adviser to numerous student clubs.

The community is invited to celebrate Dong's life while enjoying a prime rib dinner, silent auction, mystery wine table and dancing to the sounds of the Pasco High and Chiawana High jazz bands.

Admission is $40 per person, or $325 to reserve a table of eight.

All proceeds will benefit scholarships and classroom grants for students and staff in the Pasco School District.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Pasco Red Lion, 2525 N. 20th Avenue. Call 531-3801 or email pascoedfoundation@gmail.com to buy tickets or to learn more.
