Letter: Healthy choices start at home

February 18, 2014

Regarding the government and school lunches: Children learn about food and proper or improper dietary choices at home from a very young age. By the time they start school and start eating in the cafeteria, the die is pretty much cast.

Offering healthy lunch choices in the cafeterias should be a top priority of the school system. However, no one, not the government, not the school board, not Michelle Obama, can force a child in the food line to select the healthier options. It is the job of the parents to teach children how and what to eat.
