Family holds vigil in Pasco after shooting

Tri-City HeraldFebruary 16, 2014

Relatives of Stephan Sergio Aceves held a vigil Sunday in front of the west Pasco house where he died last week.

Aceves, 28, allegedly was trying to enter the home on Savary Drive about 2:30 a.m. Friday and was shot by the homeowner.

The homeowner told a neighbor that he was awakened by someone trying to break down the door and that Aceves had lunged at him.

Relatives told KEPR-TV that Aceves, who’d been drinking, was in the neighborhood with family and may have become confused after stepping outside for a cigarette. He moved to Pasco about three months ago, the family members said.

The Franklin County coroner scheduled an autopsy for Monday. The homeowner wasn’t arrested. Authorities said last week that the case will be sent to the Franklin County prosecutor for review.
