Chiawana High band to perform in Yakima

Tri-City HeraldFebruary 13, 2014

The Chiawana High School band will perform at a music educator's conference in Yakima on Saturday with their state-recognized band director leading them.

The school is one of three that will perform during the biennial conference for the Washington Music Educators Association, a release said.

The organization also recently selected Chiawana director Kevin Clayton as the 2013-14 Columbia Basin Region Outstanding Music Educator.

"This is the top honor awarded to bands within our state and as close as it gets to a state championship for band programs," Clayton said.

The performance will be at the Yakima Convention Center and Clayton will receive as award at the same time.
