Letter: Divine Interception

February 9, 2014

Very few sports plays transcend time and deserve a name of their own. "The Immaculate Reception" by Steelers' Franco Harris in divisional playoffs in 1972; "La Mano de Dios" (God's Hand) by Armando Maradona of Argentina in the Soccer World Cup, Mexico 1986.

I came up with a name for the play caused by Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game 2014: "The Divine Interception."
