Letter -- School levies: Yes

February 9, 2014

I am a native Tri-Citian, a Pasco High Bulldog, who has traveled far and away, yet returned here to raise my kids. My two sons have had the wonderful experience of being in the Kennewick dual language program, which has had superb teachers who are devoted to each student, involved parents and a diverse classroom of kids. Extra and enriching programs such as this that are outside the "norm" are at risk if our communities, all the Tri-Cities, do not support local education through levy renewal. What about "normal" school items like librarians, textbooks and computers, not to mention our beloved school athletics? These too are all at risk if our levies fail. I volunteer many hours in my kids' schools, but schools take dollars to run and it's important to use local money to support our kids and our futures. Vote yes. I already have!
