Buy tickets to Taste of Washington event March 29-30

Sample hundreds of wines, learn how they are grown and savor tasty tidbits all at the 17th annual Taste of Washington.

The event is March 29-30 at the Seattle Century Link Field Center and will feature hundreds of wineries and vintages from across the state and a variety of savory and sweet nibbles from Northwest restaurants.

There also will be a demonstration stage with chefs from the Northwest showing off their best dishes. Several vendors will showcase wine-related merchandise and venues, including the Walter Clore Wine & Culinary Center in Prosser and Intrigue Chocolate of Seattle.

VIP admission to the wine tasting is $145 per person for one day, $185 for two days, which includes an extra hour to enjoy the event, a goodie bag and access to the VIP lounge. VIP hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. both days.

General admission is $80 per person, $125 for both days. Hours are from 2 to 5 p.m.

There also will be educational seminars featuring top national wine personalities and sommeliers.

A variety of ticket/hotel packages are available through the website.

Sweet treats

The National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, which kicks off this year's sale, is Thursday through Saturday.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho will take cookie preorders through March 20.

The varieties are Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos and Savannah Smiles. Cost is $4 per box or $20 for five boxes.
