Tri-City HeraldFebruary 4, 2014

— A 27-year-old Pasco man was injured Tuesday morning in a rear-end collision on Interstate 82 in Yakima County.

Humberto G. Arteaga was driving a van west on the interstate around 6:30 a.m. when he crashed into a logging truck, according to the Washington State Patrol. The crash happened just east of the Redmon Bridge.

Arteaga was taken to Yakima Regional Medical Center. His condition was not immediately available.

The driver of the truck, Thomas W. Sexton, 70, was not injured.

The truck had flashers on and was driving slow in the right lane, state patrol said. Arteaga was not paying attention when the two cars collided.

He was cited for second-degree negligent driving, state patrol said. The van was totaled and towed from the scene.
