Police arrest two suspects in Kennewick child rape case

Tri-City HeraldFebruary 4, 2014

— Two Kennewick men were arrested on suspicion of child rape charges for allegedly having consensual sex with a 12-year-old girl.

The girl ran away from her Mesa home Sunday night to Christopher Taylor Carver’s apartment, Sgt. Ken Lattin said. Carver, 22, and James Austin Cody Draughon, 28, drove her to the apartment on the 1200 block of W. 10th Ave.

While at the apartment, the girl reportedly had consensual sex with Carver and Draughon, Lattin said.

The girl’s mother picked her up the following morning and took her to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

Police were called and officers identified Carver and Draughon as suspects, Lattin said. The pair was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree child rape.
