Basin City man arrested after alleged rape in Mesa

— A Basin City man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly raped a female earlier that day.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a rape occurring at a home on Basin Drive in the Basin City area of Mesa about 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Deputies later that day booked Fermin M. Tapia, 30, into the Franklin County jail on a 72-hour hold.

Sunday evening deputies served a search warrant at the home and collected several items for evidence, according to a news release.

The incident remains under investigation.
